Adding a special member to your family can be just what it needs! Choosing the right dog for you and your family is incredibly important. If the man of the house is gone pretty often you may want a dog that can protect your family while you are away. On the other hand, if you have a smaller home, you may choose to get a smaller dog that will not take as much room. No matter what your reason or situation, a dog can fill in the missing link in your family.
My dog Joe
A Border Collie for Protection
Don’t let the long fluffy hair fool you. The Border Collie is a great protector and is extremely loyal to its family. They are also great dogs for children of all ages. You can commonly find them ready to go on walks and play a game of fetch. If you decide to go with a collie, make sure to schedule regular grooming and maintenance. If you don’t, the hair will get matted and unruly.
Golden Retrievers for the Kids
For families with lots of land or a large yard, a Golden Retriever can be a perfect fit. This specific breed is full of energy and a great companion. They are extremely smart and loyal. A Golden Retriever would also be great for couples with children. They are known to be friendly with everyone that they come in contact with. They are not considered to be aggressive dogs, so you can trust it around your kids and other dogs.
Basset Hounds in a Small Home
If you are a family that lives in an apartment or a small home, the Basset Hound may be the right fit. The Basset Hound is known to be an extremely calm dog. They do not bark a lot, and they don’t need a lot of room to run. You can often find them lounging around the house. But although they may not be any fun to play fetch with, they are very lovable and will love to snuggle with your children on the couch.
Getting a dog can be a great addition to a family of any size. You may experience some growing pains until the dog is completely trained. Some dogs bark and may annoy neighbors, and they will all need to be potty trained, regardless of breed. Purchasing a Dogtra bark collars or puppy training pads may help move the training quicker. But as he grows, so will the bond between him and your family. He can become the protector you want or the calm, lovable lounger. Either way, he will be an irreplaceable member of your family before you know it.

Looks like Joe thinks he is a flower. Lol. We have always kept 2 rescue dogs in our home,, but they have always been a mix this or that. If I would ever have purebreed I would go for a lab. I have found them to be the best with children, as we had one when my girls were young. The only problem with a purebreed is they tend to have more allergies, hip problems etc.. Thanks for the tips.
