Happiness is something I, and many people I’ve known throughout my life, have expressed an interest in trying to achieve. It’s a never ending journey, but the things experienced along the way are well worth it.
Life has a funny way of making things entertaining, to say the least. I know in my own little piece of reality, I tend to have a few major struggles right before something amazing happens. Without fail. All of these things make me really appreciate and enjoy each and every moment given to me.
It feels like fate or the universe, or whatever fits for your life and your journey. It’s fate telling us that we’ve just earned one more small piece of happiness, slowly filling the larger puzzle.
Happiness is: the special little moments
Out of all of the little pieces in happiness in my life it seems the little ones are my favorite. The big happy moments are expected in life. Christmas is a big happy moment, for example. Every recognizes, and more importantly expects, the joy and excitement on Christmas morning.
You can’t see the little moments coming, and the joy they bring is always overwhelming in the best way possible.
My favorite moments are as follows:
The first time Zoey performed in a dance recital. I did not expect this one to hit me the way it did. I watched Zoey dance all the time, every week at class. I could probably perform the routine they spend months practicing in my sleep. I did not know my motherly emotions would kick in as soon as the lights came up on the stage, and a group of adorable four-year-olds made their debut. My emotions consumed me and the tears swelled up in my eyes. It has happened every time since.
Emma’s awesome leg kick. Once upon a time, when Emma was a baby, the batteries in her favorite bouncer died. The bouncer was Emma’s only source of comfort throughout the day you see. She had parents who kept forgetting to buy batteries, so something else had to be done. That day changed everything. From then on she would bounce her leg to help her fall to sleep. It even started happening subconsciously in her sleep. The most adorable thing in the world and still makes me so incredibly happy when I think back on it.
The magical moment of movie night. In my childhood, I remember movies in general being exciting and magical. They were a huge part of childhood as a whole. Movies lead to an infinite amount of new worlds and adventures to go on. That is what I want for my daughters. I have seen a little bit of it already, and it makes me very happy. There are very few things that make me feel the joy of life than movie night with my familia. Looking over next to my girls as we’re snuggling on the couch and seeing their eyes widen as something extremely interesting happens in a movie is exhilarating. In case you were wondering, it doesn’t even matter that I’m so obviously missing the movie.
One of the latest movies that did that for us was Big Hero 6, which is Now on Disney Movies Anywhere, and on Blu-ray™ Feb 24. Zoey has absolutely melted me by ‘geeking out‘ as she calls it over the amazing adventure and comic book feel of the movie. That little moment of happiness is exactly why I am celebrating the release of Big Hero 6.

There are many great things associated with parenthood. We all know how our children make our lives worth living and express our love for children often. One thing that is rarely talked about because it is so difficult to explain in words is the best-kept parenting secret: the perks.
These perks aren’t the traditional kind. It’s not money or a car. It’s a rite of passage for every single parent out there. The Firsts. These firsts are unique to every child, every mother, and every father. They are the things only we were lucky enough to witness and experience. They’re ours, and we do everything we can to make sure we document every single one of these little miracles.
It’s Love at First Sight. Over and over and over again.
Love at First Sight
As parents, we get to witness the magic every time our children hit another milestone, experience a new first and grow up just a tiny bit more. It’s beautiful, magical, wonderful and a little bit heartbreaking. But it is what we live for.
One of the best (and worst) ‘Firsts’ for me and my oldest daughter was when she finally decided she was fully potty trained.
At first I was extremely happy and somewhat relieved. No more wiping butts! Hooray! This euphoria was short lived because I slowly came to realize that I’m going to be missing a huge chunk of bonding time I had with my kid. A diaper change was never just a diaper change. After the new diaper was on, we always played and joked together. It was one of my favorite times between us.
That time is over now. For both of my kids. I’ll admit that Emma still wears diapers at night time, it’s better than changing her sheet in the middle of the night. Back when Zoey was a baby we fell in love with Pampers Swaddlers.
When Zoey was a baby, the sizes were not extended as they are now. When we were able we made sure to buy these Swaddlers for Emma at night. They are soft and never ever leak. Even when Emma decides to get up for a drink 5 or 6 times.
It’s a throwback to Zoey’s baby days, as well as a relief that Emma’s protected through the night.
It’s a relief that Pampers Swaddlers have all the perks that they do. And as a mom to a toddler, I’m so excited that they are now available in size 6! As a customer, it is extremely nice to see brands listening to the requests of their customers. This change has made so many families happy.
Of course, Pampers Swaddlers offer all babies superior comfort, protection and blanket-like softness. It doesn’t matter how young your precious bundle of joy is, this diaper will treat them right with the best comfort. The 12-hour leak protection can’t be argued with, either.

One of the things I find it difficult to do is preserve memories. Zoey and Emma are always coming up with hilarious stunts, writing beautiful notes and letters, coloring spectacular photos, and making me the world’s proudest mom.
Unfortunately for me all of these things are lacking one very important feature: the ability to last through the years.
As much as I love these crafts and gifts I receive, they hardly make it through the week. I could not imagine trying to make them last through the years, so I could look back on them and remember the joy behind them.
I have to help them make things that will last. Things that we will all enjoy reminiscing about in the distant future.
DIY Bedroom Door Initials
My daughters chose to share a bedroom earlier this year, and since then have retired their old door initials that Grandma got them last year.
One thing they haven’t done is forget how much they loved having their bedroom door announce to the world that it is their room. Only their room.
No adults allowed and all that jazz.
Your babies (and children) all experience your love in different ways. The special moments between parents and children make every day worth remembering. My favorite way of doing this with my kids is through crafts and DIY projects.
What you’ll need for this activity:
- Wooden initials (and an ampersand if you have two kids in one room)
- Paint in your kid’s favorite color
- Paint brushes
- Paper plates
- Glitter (optional, but so much fun)
The paper plates make this DIY project extremely kid friendly, and almost any age can participate.
Emma is 2.5 and had so much fun with this.
First thing, paint your letters. For the kids this is one of the most fun things.
Be sure to get the sides painted as well.
For the older kids, you can let them create a dual colored initial, with the sides a darker shade than the front for a really neat shadowed effect.
It also doesn’t hurt (I did this) to smooth out the paint just a bit after the little ones are done painting.
Emma had to paint the back of hers too, it is not necessary but her level of fun was through the roof and I wasn’t about to stop her.
She is just so darn cute, if I do say so myself.
Looking back at these photos melts me, which is exactly what this project was meant to do.
These photos, as well as the DIY itself, will be so fun to look back on as the years go by.
For being as young as she is, she did an amazing job with her letter.
She really made sure everything was covered, and all I did was smooth it out.
It was definitely a proud mama moment.
While Emma painted her ‘E’, I painted Zoey’s ‘Z’ and the ampersand.
Zoey’s paint was a sheer sparkly purple, which made the letter look almost like a little galaxy. It is so pretty in the light.
I love the silver of the ‘&’ sign, it fit right in with the bright and shiny theme my girls love.
Tip: don’t use the same colors! Mix it up and let your kids be as creative as possible!
After the letters are painted, you can either wait and let them dry, or add a little glitter. Because Zoey’s paint was speckled with glitter, we had to spruce Emma’s up a little bit.
It was definitely an adventure trying to help her moderately use the glitter.
What two year old can hold themselves back from dumping an entire bottle of glitter onto the project?
You’re right…none. That’s why mom steps in. lol!
After it was all done, I had to refrain from hanging them up right away. All you need is some double-sided tape or a command strip and you’re set.
They make wonderful birthday presents, Christmas presents, or anytime rainy day activities.
Another thing you could do is let your kids make an initial for their friend’s birthdays.
Home made gifts are always a big hit with fellow parents.
I want one of you to be able to visit Michaels, and make your own memorable keepsake with your children.
Pampers Swaddlers are the #1 choice of diapers at hospitals in LA and across the country. I vividly remember being given Swaddlers when both of my girls were born. And now, Swaddlers go up to size 6!
Enter to win! One winner will receive the following:
- $25 Michael’s Gift Card
- The Crafty Chica Collection Book
- Pampers Wipes
- Pampers Swaddlers Diapers
Entrants must be 18+up and live in the contiguous U.S.
I look forward to reading all about your ways of preserving the special memories in your life.
You might just give me some ideas!
I received a free membership to Education.com’s Brainzy. No compensation was received, and all opinions are my own.
Since the day Zoey started kindergarten, she’s been obsessed with doing not only her assigned homework, but extra on top of it.
Naturally in kindergarten teachers don’t give a lot of homework, so we’ve had to find creative ways for her to continue her learning at home.
One of the ways we’ve been doing this are printing out worksheets, but she finishes them too quickly and we’re back at square one within ten minutes.
What we needed was an educational tool that would keep her focused and learning for longer periods of time.
Just give me a moment. I need to thank Brainzy for saving me money on printer ink, paper, and coloring utensils.
I love that technology is so advanced, that we can now do so much online to further our children’s education in a fun way.
Brainzy has a wonderful parent dashboard where we can track progress and see what our students have accomplished so far.
As you can see, Zoey decided to skip reading altogether (to my dismay) and work hard on math.
When I asked her about it, she said she got bored with Kindergarten math and moved up to first grade.
I love that everything is detailed.
If I want more information about what each level contains, it’s there for me.
I know what I need to do in order to help her, or where to encourage her to study a little harder (ahem, reading.)
From a child’s perspective, Brainzy is one of the most fun educational sites out there.
Each section is brightly colored and welcoming, and the vocal instructions are clear and easy to understand.
Each section contains songs, lessons, and fun games to complete.
Zoey loved the challenge of getting three puzzle pieced (aka, three stars) on each section.
She loves competing against herself and doing the absolute best that she can.
It makes me so proud that she loves to challenge herself, and that she strives to fully understand and learn.
I’m so excited to be giving away ten (yes, 10!) year long memberships to Brainzy!
I know this will be an amazing gift to give to your children, and I am extremely excited for my winners to try it!

Everyone has a hero.
Sometimes they are fictional, sometime they are an amazing person in your familia. No matter who they are, it is time to show our héroes how much they are appreciated.
Zoey and Emma have multiple heroes, one of their favorites can be seen clearly by their Halloween costumes.
They feel so strongly about the story of Frozen that they play pretend and save each other in character all.the.time.
I remember as a child I had multiple fictional heroes, but the ones that always stuck with me were by Great Abuelo and Abuelita.
Seeing their love for family, and how talented they were inspire me still to this day.
As I grew up, I gained new heroes.
Celebrate Heroes with the Disney’s Planes Fire & Rescue Blu-ray™
Disney’s Planes Fire & Rescue Blu-ray™ will be available on November 4th, as well as on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere.
The amazing thing about Planes Fire & Rescue is that it highlights heroes that we sometimes take for granted.
Our firefighters, police officers, medical emergency response teams. They all put their lives on the line every single day, and they get little thanks for it on the day-to-day.
The truth is, we would be in a world that is much worse off if we didn’t have firefighters who enter burning buildings, policía who enter dangerous situations with their only protection being their bulletproof vest and gut instict, and medical staff who treat contagious people even though it is dangerous.
These are our world’s heroes.
I would love if everyone reading this would take a moment next time to see one of these brave people, and show them how much they’re appreciated.
It could be giving small gift cards to police officers you see this holiday season, or bringing treats to your local fire station.
Tuesday November 4th, in celebration of the release of Disney’s Planes Fire & Rescue we will be on Twitter discussing our heroes. This bilingual part is going to be a huge hit, I hope you’ll join us! More information here.
I have a super exciting SHORT giveaway for you.
One person will win a Planes Fire & Rescue DVD Combo pack!
US only, 18+
Good luck to all entrants, and I hope to see you at the Twitter party tomorrow at 9PM EST!
To add to the excitement of the release of Planes Fire & Rescue, I have two fun printables for you!
This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Dreft. All opinions are 100% mine.
Zoey and Emma both have suffered from sensitive skin, and it pains me because sometimes I feel like there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.
Zoey had it the worst. She would break out on her back any time there were tags of any sort in her clothing…even the “tagless tags” that are supposed to be easier on skin. I would have to scrape them off in order for her to wear those clothes.
It made me so sad when she would be constantly scratching her back, complaining that it itched.
As a mother, it made me feel helpless.
I soon learned that it wasn’t only her back that had sensitivities, but also her waistline. From that moment on I knew it wasn’t just tags that caused her scabbing and itchiness.
It had to be my laundry detergent.
I consulted our pediatrician, and he agreed and suggested we start using Dreft for all of the clothes, blankets, and sheets that Zoey uses.
It has been wonderful every since. I still remove tags but we no longer have any issues with pants or blankets.
That is the beauty of Dreft.
It takes worry and regret off of mother’s shoulders, and allows us to once again feel like we’re doing the best for our children.
Hypoallergenic Dreft for Kid’s Clothing
Dreft is the #1 baby laundry detergent product because of it has been proven to be gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin. Don’t let this stop you from using it on your older kids, though, as I’ve had first-hand experience that it really works wonders when your kids have major sensitivities.
Dreft has been trusted for over 80 years and has a solid reputation for protecting the skin of little ones, especially during the winter when the harsh cold can really damage skin.
It also has the wonderful ‘baby’ smell that inspires me to reminisce about the times when my girls were young.
There is no laundry smell I love more than the smell of Dreft.
The best thing (besides not breaking out my daughter’s skin…) is that it is still powerful against dirt and stains despite being gentle on skin.
It is literally the life-saver product in my household because now my daughters are happy, and I can relax a little and stop worrying.
Save $2 Off of Dreft
I would love for you to experience the power and protection of Dreft for youselves.
Head over to Dreft.com and get your $2 Off coupon so you can experience the relief Dreft brings.
I would also love if you would join me for the Dreft Twitter party, October 30th 6PM PST/9PM EST. I’m co-hosting!

How do you protect your children’s skin during the cooler months?
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the book that made most of us recognize wonderful work of The World of Eric Carle.
The World of Eric Carle has a long running reputation of imaginative story telling and vibrant artwork. The playful learning experience the different pieces provide have made this ‘brand’ one of the most beloved to ever be published. There is nothing better than the feeling that you’ve helped make learning enjoyable and fun. Eric Carle has been doing that for a long long time.
The World of Eric Carle
There is absolutely nothing better than bringing the love of a book into other aspects of our life.
That is exactly what happened with The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and what perfect timing to be celebrating it because this year marks its 45th anniversary.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar 8 piece dining set
A must-have for all kids.
The separated plates provide an excellent guide for portions as well as helping little eaters from making more mess than they have to.
The bowls fit perfectly on the plate, for some extra aesthetic and functionality.
Matching silverware and cups are just the icing on the cake. My daughters have been using the cups for the last three days straight.
Who knew these would be the solution to my “don’t keep getting new cups every time you’re thirsty” rule.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar placemats are so smart I can’t contain myself.
They remind me of the placemats at restaurants but better. They can be colored on, which helps calm hungry kids when they have to wait for dinner to be served. As an added bonus for us parents if they don’t have too many spills we can hang the artwork on the fridge after dinner.
Did you know it’s Eat Better Eat Together month? It happens every October and promotes healthy family meals to be shared and enjoyed.
The World of Eric Carle has partnered with Produce For Kids in an effort to spread the word and promote healthy family meal times. If you need some exciting meal inspiration for your family, ChooseMyPlate.gov offers wonderful resources.
To continue spreading the love of healthy family meals, I am hosting a giveaway right here for the products featured in this post.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar 8 piece dining set (suggested retail $67)
The Very Hungry Caterpillar placemats ( suggested retail $12.99)
Don’t forget to keep in touch with The World of Eric Carle on social media.
It is finally my (second) favorite time of year. The cooler weather and beautiful colors of nature inspire so much in me, including dressing myself up.
Face it, it is much more difficult to look put together when you have a sweat line on the back of your shirt from a two minute drive to the gas station. This is why I look like a hot mess 99.9% of summer.
Look how it sparkles…
Mialisia Jewelry featured in this post:
It makes me feel good to finish off my Mialisia blogging with a style of jewelry I have always loved: silvers and blacks.
The Aries, a dual string necklace goes with everything I own.
No clashing colors, and since I have a bajillion colorful shirts, this is a great piece.
This might be bumped up to the necklace I’m wearing to the Christmas Party this year…I have an extremely difficult decision to make because September’s Precious Pearl is one of my favorites ever.
Lyra is another long necklace with strong VersaStyle Hooks potential, it looks beautiful no matter the way you wear it.
I love it doubled for casual days, and long on the days I wear a little black dress.
A long necklace with a simple dress is one of my favorite looks to wear in fall, with a cardigan and leggings if it is cold enough. I can’t wait for it to be cold. Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!!!
Lastly, the Gunmetal Hoops, the most comfortable earrings I’ve ever worn…and I own a lot of earrings.
I have never owned a pair of hoops before, I always assumed they would be heavy and weigh my earlobes down. I realize now that never buying a pair of hoops was a huge mistake.
They are the best earrings I’ve ever worn. They are so flattering. I can’t get over it.
I also can’t get over the fact that this is the last Mialisia post of this campaign. It makes me a little sad…so I had to make a silly face to feel better.
If you’re having a bad day, I hope that goofy expression made you feel better too.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my Mialisia experience, it was a blast to share with you. You can revisit my previous posts here:
Mialisia Jewelry Giveaway

It is officially my favorite time of year to snuggle up and watch great movies!

If you haven’t heard of Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day I must say you’re missing out! Take a look at the trailer below.
It stars the timeless Jennifer Garner, and the funniest ever Steve Carell.
This movie perfectly highlights how I see my life when things go terribly wrong. I must be a tad over dramatic, but it motivates me to work through it! That is one of the reasons I’m so looking forward to seeing this film. I can relate to it in so many ways on a more realistic level.
To learn more about the movie, visit Disney’s page for Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
My giveaway for you includes the following:
- One (1) official ALEXANDER coffee mug
- One (1) giant green highlighter
- One (1) crocodile stress toy
