There have been a lot of vlogs out there over the last few days, and some of them have cracked me up, and some of them have had me nodding my head in agreement.

Basically, we say a list of words and answer a few sentences to compare the way we speak.

So, naturally I had to join in!

Here is my video, if you want to join in…the words and questions are below!

  1. Hi Nina! I don’t think I’ve seen a vlog with you before, it was nice to hear your voice. I love your glasses. Mine are wire and rimless and get crooked sooo easily. I want to get some thick plastic ones next.

You don’t have an accent that I can tell. From what I’ve heard, most Californians don’t have much of an accent. And I don’t have a name for the rain and sunshine either. Apparently it is called sunshower, but I only found out through this dialect blog hop.

This was so fun – I think next month I will compile another list. Cause after talking with my husband I discovered there are more words that differ even more depending on where you are from. Like roof, I say R-ew-f and my husband says R-u-ff. These are really fun and addicting, thanks for joining!

  2. I’m so totally trying to get my camera running proper. I’ve got a slight accent I’ve been told by people, and not just from my 3 1/2 years living in Florida.

  3. You should include the word pillow, too! My husband used to make fun of my because I said “pell-ow” and he says “pill-ow”

I love these vlogs! I get all nervous, though when I am recording them haha.

  4. […] little over a week ago I did my first Dialect Vlog and I thought it was so much fun watching all of the different ways words can be said and the […]

  5. I’m from California too! And my name is also Nina! But I pronounce it with a long “i,” NOT Neena, more like Nie-nuh. Your voice is perfectly normal to me. :~D
