Stains have gotten so bad around here, even I’m making them. A few weeks ago I stained my favorite shirt, which was fairly new, and a couple of days before that I spilled inside of my brand-new bag and ruined the lining. My luck is not overwhelmingly positive when it comes down to stain prevention (for example, don’t trip on yourself, that way you will not spill the bite of spaghetti that was en route to your mouth. True story).

My own personal clumsiness is minuscule in comparison to some of the messes the trifecta makes.

What is the Trifecta of Laundry Stains?

In my home the Trifecta of Stains is the combination of my children, my pets, and my dear husband. Fate has to be at work here, because I have some stories to tell you.

It does not matter what day it is, what season it is, how the kids are feeling…it does not matter a single bit. As soon as they wake up to start the day, they instantly find something to stain. Normally this early in the day it isn’t something horribly unmanageable. As the day progresses and the kids let Pudge out of his cage, the terrible duo welcomes their good-hearted sidekick who doesn’t realize how traumatizing stains are to me. When I say Pudge doesn’t realize what he is doing, I truly mean it. I’m not sure that pup could hurt anybody if he tried. I will give you my favorite example of this, a true story that happened not too long ago. Emma and Zoey thought it would be a fun time to spill shredded cheese… Pudge loved it, of course, but his gut didn’t.

I won’t go into detail, but I never want to experience that mess ever again in my entire life. Imagine waking the rest of your household up in the morning by letting out a mortified “PUDGEY, NOO!”

Shiver. Let’s move on.

You may be wondering what it is about my husband that makes him a part of the trifecta of stains at all. The answer to that question is simple: I don’t know. I don’t know how it is possible for as many stains to pop up on a grown man’s shirt. What’s great is Bryan couldn’t care less, and now he is the stain-fighting hero in our house.

Stains Happen, Let’s Work Through Them

OxiClean™, our household favorite, it’s an all-in-one solution that can be used on all of your laundry* to help remove stains, brighten your colors & whites and leave a long lasting freshness. It also helps save you time since it can help you get out tough, dried-on stains the first time.

Our Trifecta vs. OxiClean™ battles include:

Spot treatments used to be the name of the laundry game. In Bryan’s line of work, he often gets some of the most difficult things on his pants…his khaki pants…now that’s a horrible uniform choice if I’ve ever heard of one. He gets oils, grease, and other icky things that hide inside other people’s computers all over himself. It’s gross. He doesn’t like constant reminders of that time he was under somebody else’s desk for three hours. Imagine gum, food, sometimes even thumbtacks that cause stains. In our early experiments (what we call testing things out for science!), pre-treating has been unnecessary. Do you know how happy that makes me?

For anything related to my children and the things that come into contact with them, washing as soon as possible is very important. My biggest pet peeve is when Zoey and Emma stain their leotards and tights meant for dance class and dance class only. It happens every time because there always seems to be something delicious and spill-worthy in our path during our trek home. Not sure what that is all about, but I don’t particularly appreciate it. As long as I wash the same day, I find myself spending less time doing laundry with OxiClean™ Laundry detergent.

Dogs smell, bad. We wash his bedding once a week at least no matter what, but sometimes he causes extra big messes that force us into this routine if we want to salvage any part of what is left. We’ve tried this before with many animal-specific products with no luck, but the simplicity of washing with OxiClean™ Laundry detergent is something I find incredibly rewarding. It’s money saved on the things our pup loves to destroy!

When it comes down to laundry, I’ve learned that preventative measures are better than spending extra time on double stain fighting. I’d rather let OxiClean™ Laundry detergent do its job right away.

The problem is I’m the world’s biggest procrastinator. The good news? OxiClean™ Laundry detergent is easy enough to use that even I don’t have an excuse not to.

*Please follow manufacturer directions for your garments. For best results, pretreat stains with laundry detergent, wait 5-10 minutes and then wash.
