I have been paid to blog and promote The Good Dinosaur as part of a sponsored campaign with DiMe Media and Disney/Pixar. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
One thing I’ve always wanted my daughters to have is confidence in themselves, bravery to take on the world, and the strength to be a good person to everyone they meet. I’ve always wanted them to understand that fear is a natural part of life, and we should lean into it instead of shying away. We need to find our roar.
I’ve found one of the best ways to build confidence within my kids is to make sure they spend lots of time around family, both close-by and far away. Whether speaking to familia across the country or across the world (Hola Peru family,) they always learn something new. There is nothing quite like the wisdom from those we cherish most: family.
Because of this I really wanted my daughter to connect with her roots (both her Puerto Rican side from me and their Peruvian side from my husband) so we enrolled our daughter in a dual immersion school which teaches kids 90% in Spanish starting in Kindergarten. The transformation we’ve seen so far (in the middle of 1st grade) is phenomenal. Zoey can now talk with her relatives thousands of miles away and share her life with them while they share wisdom with her. It has also helped me refresh my memory of the Spanish I do know as well as learn more every single day through helping with homework and only hearing Spanish at school (which is one of my favorite parts about this school, teachers are not allowed to speak English in front of their students unless they’re the English teacher for that class.)
It is an absolutey wonderful environment.
I can’t wait until Emma starts school so she can do the same.Find Your Roar and Teach the Same to Your Kids
Find Your Roar and Teach the Same to Your Kids
I’m a firm believer that it is impossible to teach our kids to be fearless if we cannot lead by example, much like the old saying “you can’t love another person if you don’t love yourself.” So I want to take this opportunity to inspire you to find your roar so you can make sure the foundation for your fearless kids is laid out perfectly for a happy life.
Another great resource is The Good Dinosaur, which had a truly inspiring message throughout with loveable characters while inspiring magical adventures with our own dino friend. All I know is if I had seen this movie as a kid, it would have been one of my favorites, hands down–in fact it still might be on my top 5 list.
Another great thing to keep in mind when discussing this movie with your kids is what it is to hold the power within yourself to keep moving forward when it feels like the world is about to end (see what I did there?)
Rendirse? What is that? We don’t do that.
Haven’t heard of The Good Dinosaur?
“From the innovative minds of Disney Pixar comes a hilariously heartwarming adventure about the power of confronting and overcoming your fears and discovering who you are meant to be. The Good Dinosaur asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely, and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? In this epic journey into the world of dinosaurs, an apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. Bring home this original story full of humor, heart, action and imagination, perfect for the whole family!”
