Weddings have the potential to be one of the most stressful events in a persons life. My husband is going to be in a wedding next month, and all of the groomsmen were struggling to find the right style suits that fit them properly and look great. I bet some of you are wondering how you can order a custom suit online. I was curious about this as well until we started the process, but it is really unique and easy to use. Indochino’s website takes you step by step and shows you videos of how to properly measure yourself. I helped Bryan through this process, which made it more accurate. The entire process took less than 15 minutes, and I was amazed by how many areas needed measuring.
The measurement profile is what we started with, entering Bryan’s height, weight, and age. This helped the smart Indochino site predict some of the measurements before we actually took them. It was pretty entertaining seeing how accurate (or not) the predictions were.
The Body Shape step was really interesting. This was one of those little details I never realized was important when finding a good suit to wear. As you can see above there are numerous combinations for shoulders, chest, stomach, and posture. This is a huge reason why it is so difficult for most men to find good suits right off of the rack.
I wanted to show the Jacket/Shirt Length step as an example of how the measuring works. Indochino shows a easy to follow video to help their customers provide accurate measurements. See the dial on the bottom left? This was always set to a measurement (the predicted measurements) and this was actually spot on for Bryan’s suit.
After all of the measurements are submitted, then the anxious waiting begins. At least that is how I believe it felt for Bryan to wait for his suit to be made. Just this morning he was super excited because his suit was shipped.
Having a suit is extremely important to Bryan. There have been multiple triggers in his life that have inspired him to improve the way he dresses. Over the last six months he has lost about 50 pounds. The extreme change in body shape made him want to dress better. For the last five years the combination of college, work, and being a dad made him become lazy in the way he dresses. Before his lifestyle change, and the invitation to be in his cousin’s wedding, he would wear basketball shorts and a t-shirt when he wasn’t dressed for work.

Because of his different body shape (having broad shoulders being one of them) off the rack suits always looked boxy and oversized. - The lining was something Bryan did for me. I’ve always wanted to see him in purple, so he made his jacket lining Purple Bemberg. It is such a rich purple, I cannot wait to see it in person.
The hardest part for Bryan was choosing which suit to have made, but he decided on the Essential Charcoal Suit.

Fit makes a huge difference in how a suit looks. @Catherine – yep, it’s a lot of measurements but the results will be worth it. Also, once you get them down unless you gain/loose a lot of weight you can order more suits on the same measurements.
