New Year. Wow I can’t believe it is already here.

Everyone I know, myself included, has never followed through on a resolution during this time of year. It must be some kind of self fulfilling prophecy. I have been thinking about ways to keep that from happening. What can I do to make sure the promises I made to myself aren’t forgotten?

I needed a way to make sure I never had the opportunity to forget. I figured the best way was to make a tracker.

I have also decided that it is much more realistic to set small goals for the entire year instead of one huge one. I have always felt there was much more reward for achieving the small things. These small things mean so much, and I’ve always felt better seeing myself succeed more than just once in any given year.

Because of all of this internal thought, I decided to make a tracker that I can use to keep my yearly goals front and center.

New Year Resolution tracker

  1. Print a copy, one for each ‘reminder place.’ Some of my favorite ‘reminder places’ are taped to the wall by my work desk, the fridge, and on the door I leave most often through.
  2. Fill each month with no more than two goals. You want to be able to focus on each goal individually.
  3. Make sure each goal is a separate entity, not related to any other goal. If they are related, you might as well stick to being traditional with your resolutions. Try your best to fill in the entire sheet before you start. If your goals aren’t there for you when you need them you might just forget about filling it in at a later time.
  4. Feel free to change your goals up if your aspirations change. This is YOUR list and is meant to help YOU be happy.
  5. Keep track and enjoy the pride you will feel when you cross everything off the list.

  1. That is a cute idea to help remember the goals you make. I especially like the idea of posting it on the door. Last thing you see before leaving home for the day.

  2. This is really cute. I am using a new planner that I just got to help keep me on track this year, and there’s something to be said for having a planner that makes you analysis how you spend your time and are doing on your goals.

  3. I know I need to stay organized and accountable if I’m going to make my goals happen. This is a great way to keep on setting goals throughout the year.

  4. Cute! I made a spreadsheet to track goals that have actual numbers attached to them. For our “no more eating out”, we have a calendar. Days we eat at home get green stars, days we eat out get thick black X’s. We’re on a streak right now, 7 days!

  5. My resolutions include eating healthier, paying off debt, and balancing work and family life. This printable would come in handy so my goals can be seen all over the house!

  6. Having them visible is the best idea ever! A reminder right in front of my face always helps me maintain my goals. I would put these on my back door going out to my garage. So I could see it every single day before I leave my house.

  7. I’m sure I need something like this to keep me accountable. I didn’t even bother making a resolution this year, though, because I know I never keep them.

  8. Great idea! I always tell my clients they need to set a goal with a solid action plan, give each step a deadline and then schedule them. It makes reaching that big goal so much easier. This is a great tool. Good luck making your resolution a reality 🙂
